These allow one to understand the values that are accepted in different societies. General studies provide a wide range of knowledge in that one is capable of understanding or acquiring much knowledge that will help in widening ones’ mind and improve the reasoning capacity of the individual. This is because general studies allow one to acquire knowledge from variety of sources. General studies include reading, observation, listening, experimentation and many others. It may also include research and analysis (Andrew & Martyn, 2004). General studies enable effective communication, creative and critical thinking in situations where technical decisions are needed. This is because it develops the reading, listening and speaking skills that improve communication. On the other hand, an individual who have undergone general studies possesses a lot of knowledge. This knowledge allows one to analyze creatively and critically any situation and give the best solution to the challenges encountered. It also allows good coexistence in the society as one can understand the behavior of the other in the society. General studies enables one to identify and distinguish what is good from the bad and live according to the values that are needed in the society (Andrew & Martyn,
